Need: 5oz (140g) sugar
3oz (85g) butter
2 eggs
3oz (6 tbsp) yogurt
4oz (110g) self raising flour (or 110g flour+1 tsp of baking powder)
1oz (2 tbsp) cocoa
1/2 tsp baking soda

My mum gave the recipe in ounces and I used grams and tablespoons as easier! Both have been tried and tested so use whichever you feel more comfortable.

1. Pre-heat the oven to 170°C

2. Cream the sugar and butter by mixing well.

3. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa.

4. Beat in the eggs.

5. Fold in the flour mix and yoghurt, alternating between the two until all mixed in.

6. Place in a baking tray lined with butter.

7. Bake until the cake has risen and you can see cracks on the surface, around 30-40 mins.

8. Check with a knife inserted to see it is cooked through the middle.

9. Cool on a wire rack before slicing, and serve with ice-cream, custard or whipped cream….mmm.
